Derral had been very diligent in ensuring no one else he graduated with from the Mage's Academy could let loose his secret. He had the guards pinned down behind the last redoubt before getting to the Chancellor's chamber.
"How does he just keep casting spells?!" one of the guards cried in exasperation "He's just Bladesinger!"
Derral chuckled to himself. He'd been imbuing each gem with a spell, one per night, before sleeping and placing it in a ring's settings each morning before they packed up camp. What the guards didn't realise is that each ring had fourteen gems. Derral had started this escapade with an additional 126 spells at is disposal, and wasn't running out any time soon.
